News | Support grows for regulation of will writers

One of the latest debates in the legal world is about will writers and whether their work should be regulated.  Currently anyone can set themselves up as a will writer.   They don't have to be a solicitor and don't need any special qualifications.   There is no regulatory body for will writers and so they don't need to show any expertise in the area.  Most importantly, they have no insurance for the safety of their clients, and so there is no redress for any errors found later in the will.  All of this is of course, completely opposite to a solicitor, who is qualified, regulated and insured and offers complete peace of mind to clients whose wills are drafted by them.  For more information about the debate see Law Society Gazette
