John Hatfield – Partner

John leads the firm's private client practice.

He graduated from Dundee University in Scotland, and converted to English Law, qualifying as a solicitor in 1981.

John's particular areas of expertise are preparing wills and advising on taxation and estate planning. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Having always had a particular interest in helping the elderly, he is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly - an independent, national organisation of lawyers, such as solicitors, barristers, and legal executives who are committed to providing the highest quality of legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers.

Belinda Lancaster – Partner

Belinda is a partner in Graysons' accident and injury department, and leads its highly successful industrial disease department.

David Coffey – Partner

David is a partner at Graysons and leads its highly regarded probate department.

He graduated from Sheffield University and has over 20 years’ experience as a specialist private client solicitor. David specialises in estate planning, trusts and the administration of complex and high value estates.

He is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly - an independent, national organisation of lawyers, such as solicitors, barristers, and legal executives who are committed to providing the highest quality of legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers.

In 2007, David qualified as a Notary Public. This enables him to certify documents that will be accepted for use as evidence anywhere in the world. Notary Publics hold an internationally recognised public office are appointed in the UK by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Jonathan West – Partner

Jonathan qualified as a solicitor in 1997 after studying at Hull and Manchester Metropolitan Universities.

Carl Goodwin – Partner

Carl is a partner in the Graysons personal injury department and has over 20 years experience in pursuing claims on behalf of injured claimants.

Carl specialises in work accident claims and occupational disease cases particularly exposure to asbestos and conditions arising from exposure to vibration.

He is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers ( APIL ).

Kate Fitzpatrick – Partner

Kate qualified in 1984 and became a partner at Watson Esam in 1997.  She specialises in children law with a particular interest in public law children work including High Court and child abductions.

She is a member of the Law Society Children’s panel.

Kate works for both children and their parents in contentious care proceedings throughout South Yorkshire.

Some of her recent high profile cases have included the restraint of forced marriages and Hague Convention matters.

Kate is a Solicitor-Advocate having been granted Rights of Audience in the Higher Courts (Civil Proceedings).  This means that she has the right to present cases as an Advocate in the Higher Courts in all civil proceedings - including family.

Kate has become a private sector member of the Sheffield Children's Partnership Board which is also the Sheffield Children's Trust.  It is one of 5 boards of the Sheffield First Partnership tasked to identify and deliver services city wide.  The children's board is responsible for ensuring that Sheffield's young people are healthy, safe and able to fulfil their potential.

Michelle Cooper – Partner and head of the family department

Michelle qualified in 1998 and became a partner at Watson Esam in 2003.  She is head of the Grayson WE's family department.  She specialises in complex, high value, high profile and often contentious divorce and finance cases, especially those involving companies and partnerships, pension sharing, and shareholding with assets.

She is an accredited specialist panel member in advanced financial provision and domestic abuse with Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association).  She also sits on the regional Resolution committee.

One of her recent high profile cases involved dealings with the Court of Appeal to overturn financial orders.

Michelle is a member of Barnsley/Rotherham Chamber of Commerce's Representation Council and Women in Business forum.
