THE SPEAKERS
Dr Peter Swinyard is the senior partner at The Phoenix Surgery in Swindon and is the chairman of The Family Doctor Association. He previously held the post of honorary secretary from 2006 to 2009. Peter trained in medicine at St Thomas′s London and qualified in 1979. He has been a Wiltshire LMC member since 1988, sometime chairman, and was a GPC member for Wiltshire and Dorset between 2002 and 2005.

Colin Haw is a partner and chartered accountant at Barber Harrison & Platt and has been dealing with GPs throughout his career. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Healthcare Specialist Interest Group and regularly presents finance courses to GP registrars throughout the Midlands region. BHP is a founder member of AISMA (Association of Specialist Medical Accountants).

James Williams is a senior chartered valuation surveyor at GP Surveyors specialising in the provision of valuation and negotiation services relating to doctors′ surgeries, pharmacies and health and medical accommodation. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. GP Surveyors represents in excess of 10% of the existing primary care centres in UK.

Jim McAuley is head of healthcare for NatWest in South Yorkshire, based in Sheffield. He has been with the bank for over 30 years and has a wealth of experience advising GP practices and across the whole of the primary healthcare sector.

Guy Lachlan is a corporate consultant at Watson Esam Solicitors. He has for many years advised GPs on partnership issues including structuring of their partnerships, profit sharing, premises ownership and disputes.
