Family Law | Injunctions & Domestic Violence
No one has to or should have to live with domestic abuse.
Help is available for people who are affected by domestic violence. Domestic violence can be physical, psychological or sexual abuse that takes place within an intimate, same sex or family relationship. Physical and sexual abuse are usually more recognisable to the person suffering, but other behaviours such as verbal abuse, constant criticism, disrespect, threats and withholding access to money and to family are all forms of domestic abuse.
People who are subject to domestic abuse or domestic violence from their current or former partner or from members of their own family can apply for an injunction order to keep themselves and any relevant children safe. This protection also extends to same sex couples and their children too. There are several different types of injunction that can be used to protect you, including occupation orders that allow you to continue to live in your home.
We understand how distressing the effects of domestic abuse can be and you can be assured of sound, clear and swift legal advice which is provided in a caring and non judgemental way and is sensitive to your individual needs.
