Family Law | Children Law Issues
When separating parents can't agree on where the children should live or how often they should see the parent who they do not live with, we can help. The court can make orders under section 8 of the Children Act. The court can make residence orders, contact orders, specific issues orders and prohibited steps orders to secure the arrangements for the children.
Some fathers or step fathers may not have parental responsibility for their children, and this is something we can advise you on. We can also advise on grandparents' rights, step parents' rights, the rights of extended family members and same sex couples. We would always try to reach agreements sensibly and amicably if possible and look at non confrontational ways of setting out the arrangements such as mediation. If it becomes necessary to issue court proceedings, we can give advice, assistance and representation at every stage of the court process in a sensitive and child focussed manner.
We can also offer advice about urgent applications to the court where children may be at risk, such as removal from the country.
Our team has members who are accredited to the Law Society Children Panel and Resolution Family Law Specialists. Public funding, also known as Legal Aid, is often available to address these issues and we strive to ensure that the children are always placed first.
