Business Law | Discrimination

There are six areas of discrimination law: sex (including pregnancy), race, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation and age.  It is also possible to bring claims for less favourable treatment on the grounds of being a part time or fixed term worker or a member of a trade union.

Discrimination law is complex and ever changing and in most types of discrimination claims a complainant can recover compensation for injury to their feelings caused by the act of discrimination.  There is generally no cap on the compensation that can be awarded where discrimination is found to have taken place.  As such, discrimination claims tend to be of a higher value and therefore attract higher media interest than other cases.

It is therefore important to seek advice as soon as possible.  Watson Esam's team of specialists is experienced in dealing with all aspects of discrimination law.
