Watson Esam | News | Say Goodbye to Home Information Packs
From midnight on Friday 21 May 2010 anyone wishing to market their property for sale will no longer require a Home Information Pack. The announcement was made just a week after the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats joined forces to form a coalition government.
The requirement for sellers to provide Home Information Packs will initially be suspended whilst legislation is drafted to abolish them completely.
The Energy Performance Certificate that was originally included in the Home Information Pack will still be required and will still need to be commissioned prior to marketing a property for sale.
The change in legislation will mean that the costs incurred by the seller will be reduced dramatically and the process of marketing a property for sale will be speeded up greatly.
It is hoped that the removal of the requirement for a Home Information Pack will encourage sellers back into the market and will help the property market and the economy to recover.
